Spotlight: DJ Streak

Reppin' that "BombaStarr" flavor! DJ Streak - STA (Supernatural Turntable Artists) / Expressions Entertainment

I've been following DJ Streak's career for over a decade now and his skills as a DJ never cease to amaze me. I didn't know him personally, but we crossed paths most recently through Facebook. A few months ago I had posted a photo of his "Lingerie Breaks" record on my wall asking if anyone still had it in their collection. A lot of my DJ friends had responded and one of them was kind enough to tag DJ Streak on the post. It was pretty cool interacting with him, we exchanged links to one another website and had a mutual respect for one another's hustle.

Last month I had asked Streak if he was interested in working with me on my "He's the DJ and I'm the Designer 2" mix series I put out twice a year. He kindly accepted and with the cover art just about complete we should have a solid release date within the next month or 2! Be on the look out for this fun project. I have nothing but respect for the man and it's a privilege to work with him!

For more info on DJ Streak be sure to check out his official site.

Cover Art: He's the DJ, I'm the Designer 2 (first look)

Here's a first look at the cover art to "He's the DJ, I'm the Designer" volume 2 featuring DJ Streak of Expressions Entertainment / S.T.A. The concept behind the cover was to capture that 70's art style featuring Power Man and Iron Fist. It was all done in Adobe Illustrator. The fun idea was to have me and DJ Streak as Super Heroes. I wanted the whole package to click... For example, on the bottom left corner: remember when Marvel used Spider-Man's head as a direct market logo, I flipped it and placed our beloved barrel man as a parody. Even on the top left corner of Marvel comics, they'd have those floating heads (I'm assuming to show off the roster) below the price and issue number, I've always wanted capture that idea.

"He's the DJ, I'm the Designer" is a collaboration between dope DJ's in the business teaming up with me and supplying the cover art design and track listing. Be on the look out for it's proper release in the coming weeks!

First Look: Tony.psd Business Card 2011

Every year I design and print out about 1,000 business cards for when I meet and interact with folks new to the Tony.psd brand. I wanted to do something a little more different this year and showcase my vector illustrating skills with a little something I came up with on Adobe Illustrator. This was a fun concept, it had that Clark Kent/Superman appeal that brands my logo and love for basketball. The color scheme is based on our beloved Golden State Warriors with a city scape and the bridge outline. Consider it a Bay Area thing. Lastly, these was a concept originally set for Golden State of Mind's new logo but was scrapped. (we're moving forward with a new concept) I just didn't want this to go to waste, it's such a fun idea!

Tony.psd's Birthday Recap

When my wife and mom asked me what I wanted to do on my Birthday, I kept it very simple: On the day of my birthday all I wanted to do was eat some really good pizza ("Pizza My Heart" in Cupertino), take a trip to my favorite comic book store (Legends in Cupertino) and watch Transformer: Dark of the Moon. For dinner that evening my mom threw me a birthday party and invited all of my childhood friends. Just being with all of them brought back a ton of memories. Living in Fairfield these past 4 years had me really home sick. It just felt good hanging out with my brothers.

My birthday celebration was a 3-day event. On Friday we celebrated the grand opening of my friends store: Headliners located in Japan Town, San Jose. We also attended Clout Magazine's "The Get Up Gang: The Usual Suspects" T-shirt Release Party right down the street. Lastly, on Saturday my wife and I attended the NKOTBSB "Once in a Lifetime" concert at the Shark Tank, a Christmas give I had given my wife. From the bottom of my heart, thanks everyone for making this a fantastic birthday celebration!
